SiMON6800

Welcome to the SiMON6800 project.

SiMON6800 is simple hardware and software that takes you back to Machine Code programming of the Motorola 6800 using a serial monitor. With SiMON6800 you can read and write 6800 machine code, run your code, and more!

SiMON6800 uses a HC908 MCU (microcontroller) too simulate some of the 6800 monitors from the late 1970s.

Relive your early programming days

The original 6800 systems (such as the SWTPC 6800 running MNIKBUG) from the late 1970 were used as engineering and programming teaching tools. If you remember using one of those systems, then SiMON6800 will help you re-visit those glory days, and revive past memories.

PLUS – SiMON6800 is also an excellent tool to learn how micro-proceessors work right down at the register level. Don’t expect high level languages here – this uses machine code instruction bytes.
